VoteVal

Questions and answers

Can someone vote twice?

Not on a Point Weighted Vote. Signing in ties one vote to one account, and the database itself refuses a second — it is not a rule the website checks and hopes for the best.

Light Fun Polls have no sign-in, so they cannot make that promise. They are labelled as unverified wherever they appear.

What are the points for?

A weighted vote rewards standing behind your choice:

One point for voting, one more for showing your name, one more for giving a reason:

  • 0 — abstaining
  • 1 — anonymous, no reason given
  • 2 — your name shown, no reason
  • 2 — anonymous, with a reason
  • 3 — your name shown, with a reason

The result is weighted by those points, so a vote somebody signed and explained counts for more than an anonymous click. Nothing is secretly counted twice — the breakdown is printed on every result page.

If I vote anonymously, who can see me?

Other voters see only a pseudonym such as "Voter #3", and the same pseudonym every time, so your reasoning can be followed without your name.

The moderator of that vote can see who you are. That is deliberate: it is what lets abusive text be removed. If you need to be anonymous from the person running the vote, this site cannot offer that.

Can the moderator delete votes they disagree with?

Only where somebody typed free text — an explanation, a name they chose, an option they added. A vote with no text in it cannot be touched at all.

Every void needs a written reason, and that reason is published next to the thing it removed. If a moderator is striking votes unfairly, the record shows it.

Can I change my vote?

Yes, at any time until the vote closes. Every change is logged, so the record shows that you changed your mind without hiding that you did.

When do results appear?

Whatever the moderator chose when creating the vote: either live while voting is open, or only once it closes. A vote left open indefinitely always shows results live — otherwise the moderator could watch privately and close at a convenient moment.

What happens to my email address?

It is never published. If your account has no name at all, a masked form such as `bu***ov@gmail.com` is shown instead. You can set your own display name from the home page.

Can I delete a vote I created?

Until somebody votes, yes. After that the record stays — a record that can be erased is not a record. You can close it instead, and a site administrator can remove content that should not be hosted at all.
